Olympic Games (in London!)

It's time for some sportnews. We know that (we women) think shopping is a sport itself, but unfortunately it's not an official Olympic Game. However, this year is an amazing year for the sport people among us. Let us enumerate some things:

- European Championship (spot the hottest boy's and boddies) 

- Olympic Games (for the real sport lovers)

Certainly, the last event we think is sooooo amazing, it is really a TBYD. Especially now it is being organized in London. Great for the Europeans among us. To make you even more jealous, Anouk is going to London this summer and she has tickets for the field hockey games (women final, women 1/2 final, men last four). So she is really looking forward to the games and you guys know, hockeyers are hot!

It is very difficult to buy tickets, so you should be early with your sign up. However, don't be too disappointed because in two years the Olympic Games will be organized in Brazil, la-la-la-la-la-la-la-laaa (reminds us of buying tickets for the Holland Heineken House, la-la), Brazil! So make sure that you are the lucky owner of some tickets for London or Brazil. 

You're no lucky bastard? Don't make it a big problem. You can always watch it online, on tv or you can just visit London and sample the atmosphere. Need some information? Visit London 2012.com !

Chica's! 

This time, we have something nice for the Dutch girls among us. We all know that the Dutchies like to save money (certainly if they are student, like us :) ). So someone came on the great idea to let people bid on holidays, restaurants and a lot of other fun stuff to do. This site is called Vakantieveilingen.nl , translated: Holiday Auctions.

Vakantieveilingen.nl is a website were you can bid on great auctions. All site members (you can register for free) can bid on great items, vacations, theater performances, dinners etc. It really is perfect for people who don't want to spend much money or people who don't have much money. The auction takes a certain period of time, varied by subject. The trick is to offer the highest bid at the last moment. This way you make sure that you win the auction for as little money as possible. After some seconds, you can see whether you have won the auction or not. 

Every day there is an 'Auction of the day'. If you visit the website the auction of the day really strikes out. On the picture below you can see an example of an Auction of the day. This is a bid for a hotel in Antwerp, tomorrow there will be another fantastic item in the Auction of the day! By the way, the winner won a weekend Antwerp for only 50 euros. Bargain!

But not only in Holland they came up with this great idea! So luckely for the readers who don't come from Holland you also can search (and will probably find) a great auction site for your own country!

Cupcake time!!

Hello cupcake lovers!


Cupcakes, you see them everywhere these days. But did you know that the first recipe about cupcakes was written in 1828 by Eliza Leslie? Cupcakes where served by the tea at genteel tea Parties.
They started as simple cakes, but nowadays you can get them in every size, colour, taste and shape. 

Yes, this really is a dress made of cupcakes! It was made by the girls from DC Cupcakes for the DC fashion week. These two sisters Sophie and Katherine have their own real life serie about their cupcake store in DC. They make the most beatifull creations form paintings till even dresses. 


So after seeing als these beautiful creatations we decided to try it ourselves. We went to the supermarket where they have a lot of handy devices to create lovely cupcakes in a simple way. First we made the cakes, when they were cooled down we where ready with the preparations for the decoration. We used marzipan to make all kinds of shapes with cheerful colours and a chocolate topping simply because we LOVE chocolate. Thanks to the special cupcake package of Anouk we had colourful sprinkels, funny little dolls, flowers and even a professional spatula to make our cupcakes as beautiful as possible. 
To be honest we were quit proud on the results! All those beautifull colours make us happy! And don't forget they are to be eaten! And that is what we did, together with our friends!

A citytrip to Rome, before you die!!

Sorry, sorry, sorry! It has been a while since we posted a message. So here a long awaited, brand new TBYD!

Like you all know our blog is about things women have to do before they die. We already talked about things like shopping with your boyfriend, carnival in Rio and buy before you die. Something that we didn't write about yet is a city trip. We know that there are a lot of blogs about citytrips but we want to tell you something about our favorite city, the most beautiful city of Europe: Rome!

Rome is a city you should visit before the world ends. You wonder why? THIS is why:

1. You love ice cream? Rome has the best ice cream in the world. On almost every corner of the street you can buy one. A warning: once you've eaten one, it's not the last you buy on this trip ;) . Anouk did the Rome-city-trip with her boyfriend, but she made the mistake to buy an ice dream on the first day..

2. Rome is very romantic, especially at night. The city is beautiful and there are many romantic restaurants where you can eat the most delicious pizza or pasta. Duh, you are in Italy! Oh, and of course there are some lovely must-see attractions.

3. Shopppping. In our last post we already wrote something about shopping, the "Buy before you die" blogpost. But Rome is also very worthwhile to go shopping. It has great shops and stores and knows everything about the latest fashion trends. There is a great shopping street near the Spanish Steps. So make sure you have time (and money) to spend on shopping.

4. As we said earlier there are a lot of beautifull sights in Rome. So don't forget to go to the Collosseum and the Pantheon, throw a coin in the Trevi Fontain and go to the St. Peter's Basilica, the most beautiful monument in Vatican City.

BUY before you die!

It's getting closer and closer: the end of the world. We already have given some tips about things that you should try before the end, but there are also things that you should buy before this world will end. So women, are you ready to empty your wallet? Come on!


We know about the battle between Android and Apple and we don't want to interfere in this discussion, but there are some lovely sleeves for you iPhone/Android phone <3 ! Since we girls love girly things and accessoiries, we can pimp our mobile phone with a sleeve from FAB (43 dollar / 35 euros): 

 

If you have a beautiful iPad with a even more beautiful sleeve, you need a bag to put it in. There are sooo many bags that it is hard to just buy one (say this to your boyfriend / mum / dad to explain your collection of bags).

We already told you to buy a triple chocolat cookie from Albert Heijn to go (DON'T FORGET!!). The following things are also worth to buy before the end of the world.

Product from Rituals: shower gel, body scrub, lotion etc. Lovely!  The large shower gel costs 8 euros. It is with a lot of foam and it smells delicious!!

Shea Lip Butter from the Bodyshop. 7 euros and a delight for your lips. And we haven't even told you about the smell ;) .

In every color you can imagine, a color for every outfit! This nailpolish is from H&M and only costs €2.95 (3.95 dollar). It's always a good present for a friend or for yourself ofcourse :) . It seems that many women collect nail polish items, it's cool and cheap, don't forget that we are in a crises..

Graffiti!

Something more exciting for the daredevils among us: graffiti. We want to make sure that is not the intention that you use graffiti as vandalism. But it is sooo cool to do if you do it legal! There are people who are real good in making this kind of art, they make the most beautiful drawings. They spray the paint on a wall and before you know it, the whole wall becomes a great work of art. 

Last year, Anouk tried to make a graffiti. The tennis club of which she is a member, celebrated the 50th anniversary of the club. Therefore, they want to do something special. Anouk organized an activity for the kids and parents (they thought it might be even more fun) and Anouk that a graffiti painting was an exciting thing to do for the kids, parents and of course herself. The result was great, but the graffiti spraying itself was amazing! So we think this is a TBYD: graffiti. 

What do you need?

- A sketchbook and a pencil to develop your tag

- Aerosol dispenders

- Old clothes

You can try this at home, but don't get mad at us if your parents or neighbours are not happy with the graffiti painting at their wall ;) . So if you think the risk is too high? Use the graffiti creator, we are convinced that your parents even like your creatings!

Carnival in... Rio?

Hello party people,


Rioooooo de Janeiroooooo whoohoohoo!! Okay we are already in the party mood. Just thinking about celebrating carnival in Rio de Janiero makes us happy. All those beautiful people partying in colorfull clothes while the sun shines all day. Who doesn't want to experience that? Okay, we have to stay realisctic.. this ain't going to happen for us (poor students!). So we came up with a great idea!

- Colorfull and funny clothes 'check'
- A great party for several days 'check'
- Sunny weather 'no check'. 

But don't be disappointed, the best ingredients are included in our plan. 

Lets start over.. laalaaaaa lalalalalala laalaaaaa lalalalalala laalaaaaa lalalala lalaaaaa lalalalalalaaaaaa!! Yes this really is a song, which sounds great (after a few/lots of beer). Goods news for the dutchies (and maybe our neighbours) CARNIVAL IN HOLLAND starts in a week. Never celebrated carnival? Use our three step partyplan and you will be ready to party.


1. Go to a carnivalsshop and choose the most ugly and funny clothes. Some examples: (See this link for a good webshop)

 

2. Listen to typical carnival songs to get in a party mood! A few recommendations (only listen to these songs if you are tipsy)

3. Go to the pub with your friends dressed in your special carnavals outfit, try to sing alone with the songs you listened and have a few great and funny days in Brabant or Limburg


Since people only celebrate carnaval in the South of Holland some great cities for carnaval in Holland are Eindhoven 'Lampegat' , Den Bosch ' Oeteldonk', Maastricht 'Mestreech' , Breda 'Kielegat'.

How to treat yourself on Valentine's Day

February 14: Valentine's Day. One day we all deserve to be pampered. So if you have no boyfriend, don't worry. We have some tips to treat yourself on Valentine's Day so that you have a great day too!

It is about lunch time so you probably are a bit hungry. Do not choose for a normal lunch today, choose a great one. Something different than all the other days and much tastier. A triple chocolat cookie from the Albert Heijn (to go). It is truly the most delicious cookie you've ever had. If you've tasted one, you will never choose another cookie! (We already have one today :) )

The second tip is to make a fantastic dinner for you and your girlfriends tonight. It can be an easy male or something more elaborate. Some ingredients for the dinner:

Are you also tired of the 'no, today there is an exciting football match'? We sure know that most men don't like shopping. But watch now! There is a way for you and your partner to go shopping together!! Okay, little note: the shopping part does not mean the same for you both ;) . 


A pub in Groningen has found the solution: a 'shoppingsitter'. While you are fitting the prettiest dresses, your partner can drink beers at the pub. A kind of babysitter for the second youth of your boyfriend. When your wallet is completely empty from all the shopping, you can pick up your lover at the pub and you just need to pay for his drinks (which perhaps could be more expensive than your purchases, but whatever!) . The shopping afternoon ended and now you can go to diner together! We assume that you do this at the same table in the same restaurant ;) .

Hi everyone!

Welcome to our blog "Try before you die for women - the soft version". As you all probably know, the world will end this year.... if we have to believe the Maya calender. Even the Dutch program 'De wereld draait door', spends time on this topic. Guests in their show tell something about what they think you must do before the world ends. This brought us to the idea to make a soft version for women who wants to make their life even more fun and exciting.
